Why This Work Matters to Me

I work with leaders, teams and organisations across local government and the wider public sector. Early in my career I made a conscious decision to work in the public sector because I believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy a good quality of life, and I wanted to play a small part in contributing to that.

Before becoming a leadership coach and facilitator, I spent over 30 years working in local government, including 15 years at assistant chief executive and director level. During that time I led services responsible for transformation and innovation, marketing and communications, digital and technology, organisational development and human resources.

Throughout my leadership career, how I worked with people mattered deeply to me. I became increasingly interested in how individuals and teams grow, develop and work well together, particularly in complex and pressured environments. That interest gradually led me towards coaching and facilitation, where I could support leaders more deeply as they reflect, develop insight and navigate change.

How I Approach This Work

My approach is highly relational. I create thoughtful and engaging spaces where individuals and teams feel able to reflect openly, explore challenges and learn together. Using reflective enquiry, I support leaders to develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships and the systems they work within.

From my experience in local government, I understand the pressures, complexities and political context leaders often face. This allows me to support people in a way that combines thoughtful reflection with practical insight and real-world understanding.

An important influence in my work is my lifelong practice of yoga. As both a long-standing practitioner and qualified teacher, I have developed a deep interest in wellbeing and stress management. This experience shapes how I support leaders to develop resilience, manage pressure and stay grounded in demanding roles.

Clients often tell me that I build rapport quickly and create a calm and supportive environment where people feel able to be honest, curious and willing to challenge their own thinking.
